From the moment we met, it was obvious how well Jack and Sarah fit together. Their relationship radiates their sweet personalities: relaxed, fun, and a little chaotic in the best possible way. They were complete naturals in front of the camera during their Cincinnati surprise engagement, focused only on each other. This not only makes for the most intimate, love-filled experience, but also the most authentic photos!
Springtime has finally arrived, and the beautiful Ault Park is in full bloom. Jack had this date planned out for a while, so it was only natural that the 10-day forecast for Cincinnati was filled with rain! We watched it throughout the week, and luckily enough, the sun finally decided it wanted to catch a glimpse of Jack and Sarah’s Cincinnati surprise engagement.

A beautiful spring Saturday at Ault Park in Cincinnati means beautiful photos. However, it also means one wedding (at least!), high school proms, graduation photos, and plenty of casual park-goers. Despite that, with a little strategic framing (and some editing magic), the final gallery feels like they had the whole park to themselves.

Jack told his now fiancée that this was a couple’s session, so we took a few decoy photos while my wife waited for the perfect moment to sneak Sarah’s beautiful new ring over to Jack.
I advised Jack to propose sooner into the shoot rather than later. We wanted plenty of time to capture their engagement, and there’s nothing like the pre-proposal nerves!

Detail shots of Sarah’s stunning ring just following their proposal
And capturing the pure joy once she says yes is truly on of my favorite parts of shooting a proposal.

This Cincinnati surprise engagement was only the beginning. Afterward, they celebrated with family and friends at Abigail’s Annex — a private room in the popular OTR neighborhood bar, Rosedale — which deserves a post of its own.
