A lot of 4th of July weekends are just what you would expect. For instance, fireworks, crowds, barbecues, and lots of red, white, and blue attire. But sometimes, you might just yearn to escape from the lights and the action. This gorgeous, intimate summer wedding was exactly that, held at what feels like an oasis compared to the close-by Nashville, TN. Sophie and Josiah’s wedding was all about nature—flowers, greens, wooden textures—a picture perfect setting for summer romance.

Sophie and Josiah’s weekend started on the Fourth of July with an “evening-before” photoshoot, with Acorn Lake as a backdrop. In the midst of last minute planning, it was a sweet moment for the couple to spend some time with each other.

Despite a wedding being a celebration for the couple, it is really easy to realize you barely saw your partner! I always try to make sure there is plenty of time for the couple to just be together. On this peaceful summer wedding morning, this extra time made for some beautiful portraits.

The weather was perfect for an outdoor ceremony, with the surrounding sea of green and historic stone chapel serving as a stunning backdrop for the couple’s big day. I love capturing the emotions of family and friends throughout the day, and this family-centered ceremony was no different.

A bright and colorful outdoor reception followed, with gorgeous florals by Dew Floristry and a floral cake to match, which may or may not have fallen victim to one or more wandering little fingers.

Special shout out to Crooked Letter Paper Co. for hand-crafting the various wedding details (cups, envelopes, place cards, playing cards, signs)
