Chloe’s journey from music to medicine was a pillar of her college career, two things she refused to give up. It is no easy feat to squeeze in a music major with minors in chemistry and biology. Still, she reached for the stars and created some incredibly meaningful college years.
So, as her now husband, I had the privilege of tagging along for many of her most important events. Because of that, we now have dozens of photos that we can fondly look back on.

She started her senior year with a bang after receiving an invitation to perform with world renowned pianist, Bruce Levingston, at the Dawn of the Arts concert. The University of Mississippi Music Department held this landmark concert to formally announce the University of Mississippi Institute of the Arts. There, the pair performed a stunning duet—an arrangement of Clair de Lune—on piano and vibraphone.

Chloe devoted much of her college career to her involvement in the Pride of the South. She served as drum captain for three of her four years, and because of that, she got to visit many different college stadiums and perform countless Grove Shows. Eventually though, her senior night and last home football game came and went. A light rain fell that night, which really added to the emotion of the moment.

Some of my favorite moments from throughout Chloe’s marching band journey
With the close of the fall semester, Chloe began preparations for her senior recital, which often serves as the culmination of one’s music journey. She prepared nine pieces, including an original composition, and meanwhile, rehearsed week after week with some of her peers. This event was one of her favorite moments in her entire college career.

Finally came the long awaited graduation. Chloe attended three separate ceremonies: the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, the College of Liberal Arts, and the university-wide commencement ceremony. While the former two were held inside, the weather turned out perfect for the outdoor commencement ceremony. As a result, it was held in the famous Grove.
Have I mentioned that Ole Miss consistently ranks as the most beautiful campus in America?

Remember the “music to medicine” I mentioned? Well, now she is in medical school, and I could not be more proud. And who knows, there may or may not be plenty more photos to share in just a few short years.
